Review: Jessie J - Alive tour: Echo Arena Liverpool 4th November 2013

Three years ago Jessie J (Real name Jessica Ellen Cornish) came onto the music scene and hit the ground running. With number one singles, an album which sold millions and performances at the Olympics, it's no surprise that the Brit-award winner is now a household name. Liverpool Echo arena was host to number 11 of her 14 date "Alive" tour.

The venue was full to capacity with adoring fans, a lovely mix of children and adults alike who sang their hearts out to Jessie's lyrics.

The production was epic, the band and backing vocalists were on point. With multiple costume changes ranging from glamorous dresses to cheeky yet not overtly sexy jumpsuits, Jessie spoilt the audience with an array of aesthetic and aural treats.

The star sang a mix of older songs and tracks from her new album "Alive". Penned and recorded over a period of 12 months with its title being derived from a lyric in the song Wild "Am I asleep? No I'm alive" for me, the tracks really did come alive when performed live.

Jessie's vocals were impeccable, there is no doubt that she can perform live and she put on an amazing show. To keep the audience amused during her many costume changes, screens on the stage projected images of Jessie as a four year old as well as messages of positivity spoken by an adult Jessie. This was a great touch and gave the audience an insight into the singer’s journey as well as her positive outlook on life. The crowd were engaged and seemed to hang onto her every word as she spoke these affirmations. It was quite moving.

Jessie sang songs such as "It's my party", "Thunder", "Wild", "Conquer the World - ft. Brandy", "Alive", "Excuse my Rude" and many others.

This was a family show and hats off to Jessie for keeping it tasteful, engaging with her fans and offering up a jam packed exciting show. One day before bonfire night, the pyrotechnics, high vocal quality and affirmations ensured that the show was explosive and memorable. Remaining dates include Brighton, Bournemouth and Cardiff.
