PREVIEW: All OR Nothing StoryHouse Chester 27/9 - 30/9

From Wednesday 27th September Storyhouse Chester will be home to the touring musical sensation  All or Nothing.  The musical was written by award-winning Eastenders actress Carol Harrison who will play Kay Marriott – mother of Small Faces band member Steve Marriott. This is the production's third major tour and since appearing on stage in London early 2016, it has received critical acclaim.

East London MOD Rock band The Small Faces formed in 1965 . Their front-man, guitarist and vocalist Steve Marriott was a charismatic powerful man. His powerful vocals belied his small physical stature. Small Faces played for four years (1965 - 1969)  Their fifth single All or Nothing was their definitive track. Issued in the summer of 1966, it was their only number 1 single . Marriott went on to be a part of the band Humble pie between 1969 and 1981.

Carol Harrison explains her reasons for writing the musical . As a child of the 60's and a subscriber to the MOD movement, she decided to pay homage to genre, the era and more importantly the man himself Steve Marriott who touched her life and the lives of so many others. Carol "felt compelled to tell his story and to remind everyone of his enormous talent". She explains “It’s a real honour to be able to bring the extraordinary world of the Small Faces back to the fans and to a brand new audience, young and old. Our live band and cast tell the story of the rise and fall of the band, a journey as vivid and colourful as their sound, and get to showcase an amazing catalogue of music – hard edged R&B. This is music which influenced a generation of musicians from Paul Weller and The Jam to Oasis, Blur, The Verve and The Arctic Monkeys, not to mention millions of fans. Book – it’s truly a concert of a lifetime!”

The cast also features The Bill’s Chris Simmons as Small Faces member Steve Marriott, while Russell Floyd  plays the role of the band’s manager Don Arden.

He made a huge impact on the music industry and influenced the likes of Led Zeppelin as well as Paul Weller.
