PREVIEW: Kairos Initiative Official Charity Launch - 25th October 2019

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of meeting up with Ije McDougall - CEO and Founder of The Kairos Initiative. Ije gave me the background on the origins of her charity and explained why this is a cause close to her heart. The Jihadist terrorist organisation known as Boko Haram based in North Eastern Nigeria have caused absolute chaos and devastation to civilians. The militant Islamic group's modis operandi includes employing tactics such as suicide attacks, kidnappings, ambushes and bombings. The impact that this has had on the local communities has been heart-breaking and Ije explained that she simply couldn't sit back and observe. The mission of the charity is to restore dignity and to bring relief to the neediest of people.

Achieving charity status in March 2019, the charity has big ambition which will facilitate achievement of their prime goals of restoring dignity and bringing quantifiable practical relief to the needy. With this in mind, the charity is planning an official launch via a Gala Ball and is seeking support from all who are committed to making a change and difference.

The charity have built a beautiful relationship with The Cornerstone Orphanage. The orphanage homes children of all ages who's parents have been murdered by the Boko Haram. The charity pays for apprenticeships and provides the vehicle for the young children to be educated. The charity also provides food for the children on a monthly basis as well as clothes, books and recreation. They even pay for one disabled child called Augustine to have physiotherapy three times a week. There really is no limit to the compassion that the organisation display to the needy. These acts of love and kindness are the epitome of humanity and selflessness. Kudos to The Kairos Initiative!

The charity cannot do it all alone though. Ije explained how she has regularly used her own salary as the source of funding such provisions for the communities.

'Kairos' means "a propitious moment for decision or action" meaning the time is NOW to do the right thing. The charity welcomes support in so many ways:
  • Direct donation
  • Host your own fundraiser
  • Buy tickets for the Gala Ball taking place on 25th October
  • Spread the word about the Kairos Initiative on social media
