Review: Jalane Music
In 2006, he joined a Dutch band called R.O.O.O.M which was successfully signed by EMI records. He then went on to form a Hip-Hop band back in 2008 called Lookin' 4ward (L4). The band gained success in the Dutch alternative chart in 2010 with their first album entitled "Counting Coins". This gave the band the spring board that they needed and granted them access to international platforms.
Now working as a solo artist, Jalane is using his experience to focus his energies on new projects namely the his first LP. His new single and first official solo track "We can do it" is now available for purchase in iTunes.
We Can Do It (Explicit content) 04:33
Featuring VC and produced by Alow beats, the track was released on December 6th 2014. It was recorded in Luanda (Angola).
As the title suggests, this is an uplifting track about optimism and positivity. Jalane's main inspiration behind the track is that no matter what happens, "We can do it". When he was in L4, people doubted that it could be anything better and he refutes that defeatest mentality. He is clearly embracing the journey and states "I walk long distances" which is testament to his enduring spirit and hunger for success as is evidenced by his new projects. The opening lyrics "People was doubting me" catch the attention instantly, the melody is catchy and your head nods as you absorb the bassline. This was certainly an instant hit with me, I loved it from the first listen. It's cohesive, has excellent production and the lyricism is on point. Jalane's chopper style of rap is reminiscent of the legendary Twista. This track is heavy! Great beat selection and flow. You can't help but feel energised after listening to this.

No Way out (Explicit content) 04:31
I love the synth on this track, once again Jalane serves up a stellar offering of Hip-Hop. From the drop, the beats are dope as are the rhythms and Jalane emphatically lays down the vocal. The assembly of the track is impressive , Just in case you were in any doubt as to who is performing, you hear "Jalane" throughout the track. It is not overkill or egotistical by any stretch of the imagination. He elevates his game as he spits the bars on the mic. This track is an affirmation overflowing with positive lyrics. "Live your life. My brother, my sister, my mothers, my fathers, my family. Live your life. Nobody should tell you how to do it" intricately woven into the track at the end. He also gives a shouts out to collaborators in Europe, America and Asia. Jalane is busy working at different studios from Europe to Africa in pursuit of his goal to work with new producers and to hone his craft. It only seems right that he give credit.
Rating 4/5
Jalane is a force to be reckoned with and he crafts a crisp aural experience for his listeners. The marriage of lyricism and sound is exceptional in the two tracks aforementioned.
