Katy Alex - Singer Songwriter

“Liar Liar” – is an upbeat track featuring Katy’s smooth vocals accompanied by her acoustic guitar. The track is a stripped back gritty performance. Beautiful ad-libs and a catchy melody perfectly showcase Katy’s velvet tones. This is a track dealing with the realization that someone’s habit of telling lies is starting to have consequences “Your lies are starting to burn” This track is a positive little ditty that celebrates triumph over adversity. To me, it conjures up an image of colorful hues of yellow synonymous with hope and optimism – the result: a bright and refreshing track.

“Heart strings” – this is a stunning offering by Katy Alex. I love the depth of her vocal; captivating and endearing as she pours out her heart with sincerity as she lays down the vocal.  It is raw, mature and beautiful. She caresses the keys of the piano / keyboard with precision as she tells the tale. The listener has to stop and take notice with mixed feelings of empathy and acquiescence as they relate to a time when their own heartstrings were tugged at. This track is proof that Katy is a force to be reckoned with.  Beautiful

“Three little words” Catchy little riff with smooth vocals velvet in tone, melodic and heartwarming.  It is rich with smooth, beautiful adlibs. This is one of my favourite tracks. It is haunting yet beautiful in its simplicity. It ends so suddenly. I wish it would have carried on. When the track starts, it pops in your head like an unexpected visitor and lingers in your head. Pressing play brings it back into your consciousness as you welcome it back like an old friend. Lovely.

My song”
With an Electro- techno overlay, this is quite a thumping track. I like the vocals but am not overly enamored with the electro vibe. It overshadows the track and distracts from Katy’s vocal. That said, it has a fun, youthful and vibrant element to it which will appeal.

“A boy like that”
I love the piano on this which is a mature track with good lyrics and tight harmonies. This is a victorious song which talks about not settling for second best, an empowering, beautifully written piece.

I’m not strong – a song for Connor
This is such a touching song which was penned in grief. Katy unburdens her emotions by expressing her grief, her sense of loss and confesses that she is not strong.

“Tell me that I’m not alone that you’ll always be there when I fall
That you’ll help me get through this
I don’t want to face this on my own”

This is simply Katy and her keyboard, stripped back with her feelings laid bare. It is honest, brave and sensitive in its delivery.
The depth of her emotion in the lyrics that she sings is a moving recollection of the pain that she feels and the admission of not being strong.
This track is Raw and it is real. The intensity of her emotion is palpable. This is a moving and memorable track – the melody, the lyrical content and the delivery make it memorable. This song is in memory of Katy's late brother.

Give myself up
The theme of this track is about surrendering to emotion. When an affair of the heart ends dismally and a relationship is deemed to be over, there comes a time when acknowledgment of the end is the only choice. Katy describes this intelligently and lyrically her use of language appropriately refers to that struggle. “I’m not strong enough to hold myself up

I’m struggling
I think it’s time, I think it’s time to give myself up” – Once again, the honesty of her lyricism and the simplicity of her delivery gets the message across plain and simply. Beautiful vocals are thrown in for good measure, a good range in pace and power which leaves the listener in an attentive state.
This is a lovely little track by Katy

“Tic Tac Toe”
This has a great beat to it that had me moving my shoulders and nodding my head in response.  A happy little number which sees Katy demonstrate a different tone to her voice. This has a great intro that sets the tone of song. A lovely fusion of bass and accompanying instruments make this a super feel good track.

“Young Brave Heart” – This track is positivity personified. It is triumphant, introspective and courageous. The track builds with intensity as the lyrical content describes the journey that one embarks upon only to realize that the possibilities are endless when you open your mind.
This is a great little track which is full of conviction and deep meaning. It is sensitive, humble and positive showing growth and development of the human spirit. Well written and beautifully executed- a credible and strong performance by Katy. The melody as well as the message lingers after you play it. Powerful .
