Manchester Jazz Festival 18th - 27th July




Festival season is well and truly under way. This week is a continuation of a theme and sees Manchester Jazz festival get off to a flying start. The festival takes place over ten days across locations in the city. A grand total of 88 bands being set to perform in 8 venues.


There will be a feast of various genres including world jazz, pop, ska, chill brass, folk and rockabilly. 
The festival made it's first appearance onto the festival circuit in 1995 and has subsequently grown in popularity and acclaim. Focusing specifically on home grown talent and also opening its stages to international artists, the festival has gone from strength to strength. Funded predominantly by the Arts council, Manchester city council and the PRS for music foundation, 2014 looks to offer a high quality programme of events.

On Saturday 19th July Son Yambu and DJ Lubi will get the party started  at Band on The Wall. Son Yambu - a UK based collective that plays authentic Cuban Son; Afro Cuban music originated from Cuba and giving rise to salsa. The band are predominantly from Santiago De Cuba.

DJ Lubi Jovanovic - one of the UK's leading Salsa / Cuban / Latin DJ's who has been in the industry for 30 years, and cutting edge producer will set the tone for the evening.
